You have probably heard that, if you want to be successful on social networks, it is not enough to just have a presence, but you must have a good marketing strategy. Well, they are very right buy facebook comments.
You already know how important it is to generate quality content on different social networks. Keeping them updated with relevant content and connecting with your followers has become a fundamental part for all brands.
On the Internet, each platform has its rules of use and its “jurisprudence” generated by the users who make up the community. Today we are going to see a series of common points that can be great for us when writing on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Here we go!
1 – Think about your target audience
The first step to success is knowing who we are targeting. Knowing what their concerns are, their hobbies and what needs we could satisfy will help us a lot. All this information is very valuable when deciding the actions to reach them.
When it comes to launching a message, our followers are the ones who will read our content. Therefore, we have to think about them , not about our personal tastes.
2 – Diversify your messages on social networks
All social networks are not the same, therefore, if we want to present the same information it has to be done differently. We can ask questions, use irony, resort to word games and even use humor. The key is to generate interest and get them to click.
To make it clearer, we show you this example taken from two reference news media. The purpose of both is to inform, but they have very different ways of achieving this goal.
In this case, the sports newspaper Marca uses more sarcastic language in its messages on its Twitter account. He is giving information, with a pleasant message that is linked to the passion for sport and that, without a doubt, has his audience in mind.
However, another national newspaper such as El País publishes other types of content, with a very different audience than Marca. In this case, the message is much more sober, without emoticons that can alter the message. The objective is to inform, and they think at all times about the reader who follows them on their Twitter account.
3 – Adapt the tone to the brand
Each brand has to adapt the style with which it writes to its personality. To do this, it is necessary to have the brand’s personality defined and collect it in a brand platform type document . We always have to keep in mind what our strategy is and the tone chosen to develop it. Keep in mind that each brand is present on social media for various reasons and they are not the same for everyone. This has to do with the content that is shared and the tone we use to express ourselves.
For example, if you are a bank like Sabadell, you have to give that image of a certain seriousness and professionalism to your followers, because people ultimately trust you to manage their money.
On the other hand, we take Fanta as an example. In this tweet we see how she connects with her audience, much younger and more casual, through language. They do not hesitate to use a non-serious tone, emphasizing humor and parody. Can you imagine Sabadell sending someone to take “fanta”? Impossible!
4 – The objective on social networks is to be heard.
This is something that may seem very basic, but we cannot leave it aside. It is important that the user understands what we mean. We must measure literary ornaments and use them like salt in cooking, always in the right measure. We must try to explain ourselves with the right words and not leave things in the pipeline.
The style in which we should write has to be an extension of the personality of our brand and remember: you don’t write how you speak.
The writing has to be agile, dynamic and fresh. You have to be clear and concise. Using short sentences and paragraphs will help us make it easier for Internet users to read. In this way, we will be able to give rhythm to our text!
5 – A sense of humor (almost always) is a good ally.
For some time now, it has become fashionable for Community Managers to bring out good humor and thus reach many more people.
Here we have an example of how a public body that ensures citizen safety would have to use very serious and sober language, but they have certainly made more than one smile, while continuing to convey truthfully and giving a good image.
In this tweet, we can see how they use humor to reach more audiences on a topic as serious as alcohol while driving, and the consequences it can have if you drive under the influence. With this type of language, they reach a larger audience than if it were purely informative. The objective is clear, and improves the image that users can have of them.
But as with all things in life, abuse is not good. Some brands have taken this trend to the extreme, and have had a bad reaction from their audience, therefore, we have to be careful with the language, tone and way of saying things.
Now is your turn! Focus and think about what audience you are addressing, how they speak, their tastes and hobbies. Bring out your most creative side to get them hooked and have you as a reference.
